Lyons Herald, 3 Sep 1903

Grace Victoria Reed was born at Newport, Mich., September 19, 1843, and passed 
from her earthly life at the home of her son, near Lyons, August 28, 1903, at 
the age of 59 years, 11 months and 21 days. 

July 4th, 1862, at Lowell, Mich., she was united in marriage to Steven Denny 
and became the mother of seven children, five of whom, together with her life 
long companion survive her.  Soon after marriage she was called, while yet a 
resident of Lowell, to pass through the trying experience incident to those 
troublesome days of fighting life’s battles alone whilst her husband formed a 
part of the great army who at the front were fighting the battles of his 
county.  With the exception of about 9 years her family have been residents of 
Lyons since the early sixties.

The funeral services were held at the house Sunday, August 20, at 2 p.m., Rev. 
J.R. Bowen officiating.  Interment in Lyons cemetery.
