DeNolf, 89, of 1472 Knox Rd., died Monday at the Veteran’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Mr. DeNolf was born June 1, 1891 in Belgium, and was a retired postal clerk for Mandel Bros. in Chicago. He was a veteran of World War I, and a member of the Portland American Legion and the Knights of Columbus. He had lived in the Portland area for the past 24 years. Survivors include one sister, Irma McKenna of Dade City, Fla.; one nephew, Merton Putnam, of Ionia; and two nieces, Patricia Hoppes of Portland and Anne Rostorfer of Lansing. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Church. A rosary will be said Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Neller Funeral Home. Burial will be in Portland Cemetery.
