Richard Derrick Dead.

Died at his home in Muir on Wednesday, October 30, Richard Derrick, aged 75 
years.  Funeral was held Friday from the Presbyterian church, Rev. Mr. Simms of 
the Disciple church conducting the services.

Deceased came to Muir from New York State some 42 years ago and remained a 
resident of Ionia county up to the time of his death.

For a great many years he was deputy sheriff, holding the office continuously 
under both democratic and republican administrations, and was a terror to evil 
doers.  Some years ago he suffered a stroke of paralysis, since which time he 
has been almost helpless.
