Desprez, 73, of Portland died October 30 in Grand Rapids. He was born in St. Johns on October 9, 1917, the son of Frank and Anna Doyle Desprez. He as a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post No. 4090 and American Legion Post No. 129, both in Portland. He was employed as a milkman in the Portland, St. Johns, Lansing areas for many years and also worked for B & W Auto Supply of Portland. Surviving are his wife Elsie; a son, Jack Desprez of St. Johns; a daughter, Rosalie Moore of Lake Odessa; seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; a brother, Gaylord Desprez of St. Johns; and a sister, Rozella Hyde, also of St. Johns. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Neller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stanley Finkbeiner of Portland United Methodist Church officiating. Graveside services will be held in South Bingham Cemetery, St. Johns, at 3:30 p.m. The family will be at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Pallbearers will be Kurt Balderson, Michael Moore, Steven Desprez, Paul Desprez, Bill Nielsen, and John Tannery. A memorial has been established for the Ionia Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group, in care of the funeral home.
