John C. Devers, age 59, of Carson City, passed away Feb. 26, 2008 at his home.

John was born Aug. 31, 1948 in Ionia to John and Gladys (Priest) Devers. He 
married Mary Peiffer in June of 1968 in Ionia at St. Peters and Paul Catholic 
Church. John worked for Chrysler Lyon's Trim until 1979 and was the Union 
President there. After that time he worked for the Palo School in the 
maintenance department and drove school bus, was a body man for Geller's 
Chevrolet, and he retired from G.M. in Lansing in 2002. John enjoyed working 
with cars, watching Nascar, hunting, fishing, auction sales, boxing, but most 
important in his life was his family, he was a devoted husband, father, 
grandfather and brother.

He is survived by his wife Mary of Carson City, four sons, John (Jeanne) 
Devers of Ithaca, David (Colleen) Devers of Carson City, Scott (Tracy) Devers 
of Sheridan, Brandon (fiancee Corri) Devers of Carson City and seven 
grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Sharon (John) Dukes of Ionia and 
brother Rick (Vicki) Devers of Sheridan.

John was preceded in death by his parents, son Christopher, brother Robert 
Devers and stepfather Perry Womboldt.

A funeral service for John will be held Friday, Feb. 29, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the 
Lux and Schnepp Funeral Home in Carson City with Pastor Ron Brooks and Nancy 
Wilson officiating. Interment will be in Maryknoll Cemetery. Visitation will 
be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials 
may be made to the Devers Family for the Diabetes Foundation.
