Born July 28, 1921, in Gaines, Mich., he was the son of Harold and Myrtle Hopkins Devers. Formerly employed by Farmers Elevator of Pewamo, he was also employed by William Morris & Son of Ionia until his retirement in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Amber, two sons, William Taylor of Greenville and Benjamin Taylor of Lowell, three daughters, Sharon Duke of Saranac, Genevieve Adair of Ionia, and Wanita Harris of Ionia. One son, Robert Devers, preceded him in death in 1984. Also surviving are his mother, Myrtle Winters of Lyons, three brothers, Wilford Devers of Lyons, William Devers of McBrides, and Ernest Clark of Howard City, and five sisters, Arwilda Loomis of New Era, Mich., Jean Mulligan of Lyons, Frances Gilman of Texas, Lilliam Van Vockenburg of Florida, and Awanda Cramer, also of Florida, several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. from the Temple Baptist Church, Ionia.
