                              Crash Kills Lyons Man
Eagle- A Lyons man was killed when three-cars were involved in an accident on 
Grand River Avenue near Hinman Road Tuesday afternoon.

Robert Eugene Devers, 41, 518 Fuller St., Lyons, was killed, according to Ionia 
County Sheriff's Department when his vehicle met another head-on about 3:55 p.m.

Clinton County Sheriff's deputies investigating the accident would not release 
names of others involved in the accident.

Devers was apparently westbound on Grand River Avenue attempting to pass 
another vehicle. 

Clinton County deputies said Devers apparently tried to avoid a head-on 
collision with an eastbound vehicle and swerved into the vehicle he was 
attempting to pass. 

Deputies said his pickup truck bounced off the adjacent westbound vehicle and 
into the path of an eastbound vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene by Clinton County deputy medical examiner 
Sgt. Thomas Wolston. Dr. James Gross of St. Johns, Clinton County Medical 
Examiner, arrived later at the scene and authorized removal of the body.

Devers body was transported to St. Lawrence Hospital in Lansing by Grand Ledge 
Ambulance assisting at the scene. An autopsy is to be performed at the hospital 
this morning.

The driver of the eastbound vehicle was also taken to St. Lawrence Hospital and 
admitted for treatment. The driver of the second westbound vehicle and a 
passenger were also taken to the hospital where they were treated and released. 

Clinton deputies also told the Sentinel-Standard that none of the victims was 
wearing seatbelts and that it had not been determined if alcohol was a factor 
in the accident.
