Daily Sentinel-Standard - Thursday, April 11, 1940

Mrs. Chester Devine, 56, of Portland, died in St. Lawrence hospital late 
Wednesday afternoon of pneumonia only a few hours after she had been admitted 
to the hospital. 

Mrs. DeVine, wife of Chester Devine, member of the Ionia county road commission 
and a Portland hotel owner, became ill about a week ago after she had cared 
from Mr. Devine who had been seriously ill with pneumonia.

Mrs. and Mrs. Devine returned to Portland several weeks ago from a second trip 
to Florida and Mr. Devine became ill shortly thereafter.
