Lake Odessa Scrapbook - September 1895

    Nancy DeVinney

Mrs.Nancy DeVinney, wife of E.E. DeVinney, died of cancer at their home four 
miles north of Lake Odessa. The funeral was held at the M.E. Church. The 
deceased was 51 years old.She was born in Adrian,Mich. and when but a child went 
with her parents to New York; from there in 1862 she moved to Illinois, where in 
1869 she married Mr.DeVinney. She has left behind five brothers, two sisters, 
husband, one son and one daughter,. She has been a member of the M.E. church for 
about 16 years and many mourn with the relatives their loss.
                           
                           CARD OF THANKS
I wish to thank my many kind neighbors and friends for the assistance rendered 
me during the illness of my Dear Wife in helping me in my labor and for the many 
kind acts to the Departed, also for the floral offering and the beautiful music 
rendered by the choir. May God's blessing rest upon all; is the prayer of E.E. 
DeVinney and family.
         She sleeps in peace, kind, patient soul; 
         She has passed through the sorrows of life;
         She has entered her home in the bright realm; of light,
         Ne, mere to return to the darkness of light,
         A Christian's faith; hope and Joy was her's
         Redeemed through his blood and saved by his grace, 
         A lesson to all to watch, fight and pray, till the conflict is o'er
         And we gain the glad day.
