The DeVliegers were staying in their cottage at Long lake, and he, in company with Oscar Emery, of Belding, who was an employee in his store while he was in business in Belding, had driven to the Spaulding farm in search of grubs, preparatory to a fishing trip, and both men were engaged in conversation with Ray Spaulding when the former fell to the ground, death coming almost instantly. Coroner B.G. Fales was called and the body removed to the Fales funeral home in Belding.
