March 8, 2025 Excerpts from Grand Rapids Obituary Norman "Norm" Henry DeWeerd Died Wednesday March 5, 2025-age 82 Norm served as a Deacon as well as Elder in the church & was a school board member. Norm was a farmer & was a positive influence on the young people that worked for him, taught them hard work & having fun going water skiing on Friday afternoons. Survived by his wife of 55 years, Karol; children,Lori (Dave) Griffioen, Greg (Amy)DeWeerd, Sandy (Craig)Tibbe, Brent (Jill) DeWeerd, Mindy (Dave) Offringa, Dan DeWeerd, Grandchildren,Chelsea,Emily,Nathan, Kedrick, Jordyn, Luke, Nick, Mitch, Cara, Eric, Grant, Rachel, Jennifer, Ryan; 3 great-grandchildren; sisters, Crystal Unema, Mary Jane Byker; brother-in-law, Jerry(Roberta) Harmsen; many nieces & nephews. Preceded in death by grandson Kyle. Visitation on Wednesday, March 12 from 6-8pm. at Stroo Funeral Home,1095 68th SE,Grand Rapids,MI 49508. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Thursday,March 13, 2025, at Grace United Reformed Church, 9255 84th St.SE, Alto, 49302 with visitation prior to the service from 10-10:45 AM. Rev. Doug Barnes & Dr. Warren Lammers will officiate. Interment in South Boston Cemetery, Ionia County,MI. Memorial contribution may be made to West Michigan Hospice or Reformed Mission Services.
