J. Barton, in charge of Rev. Ray Utterback, pastor of the Congregational church, with burial in the Portland cemetery. Mrs. Dewey passed away late Saturday afternoon at the home of her brother, William O. Barton, following an illness of several months. She was born in Royalton, Niagara county, New York, sixty seven years ago, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Barton. She had spent the greater portion of her lifetime in this community, coming here with her parents when ten years of age. When a young woman she was united in marriage to Fred Dewey, who died two years ago on their farm on Looking Glass avenue. Following his death the farm was sold and Mrs. Dewey took up her residence on Beers street in this village, residing there until last September, when her health forced her to relinquish her home and reside with her brother where she was tenderly cared for during her last days. Mrs. Dewey was well known and had a wide circle of friends in this community. She was a member of the Congregational Guild and for years took an active interest in its affairs. The two brothers, William O. Barton, and A. J. Barton are the only near survivors.
