Wanda Jean DeWitt, 70, of Greenville, passed away New Year’s Day, Saturday, Jan.
1, 2005, at her home under the loving care of her family and Hospice.  The
daughter of Theodore and Mary Austin King, she was born July 1, 1934, in Eureka
Township.  She was a graduate of Belding High School.  On Oct. 9, 1954, at the
First Baptist Church parsonage, she married Lloyd L. DeWitt.  Wanda was a
devoted wife, mother and grandma and also loved animals.  She enjoyed nature,
especially gardening, and also liked drawing and painting.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Judy Jewell; two sisters,
Berniece Scofield and Doris Petersen; and two brothers, Eddie King and Cecil
King.  She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Lloyd DeWitt; their children,
Sherry and Bob Higgins of Greenville, Bruce DeWitt and Michelle Richardson of
Rockford, Hugh and Tammy DeWitt of Walker; seven grandchildren, Scott, Teague,
Todd, Jennifer, Alejandra, Samuel, Benjamin; six great-grandchildren; sister and
brother-in-law, Clara “Peggy” and Vern Wheeler of Greenville; sister-in-law,
Thelma and Buck Young of Jackson; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown-Teman & Christiansen Funeral
Home, 511 S. Franklin St., Greenville, with the Rev. Judy Corey, Hospice of
Michigan chaplain, officiating.  Private interment will follow in Rest Haven
Memory Gardens, Belding.  Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.  Envelopes for
memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan (Big Rapids Office) are available
at the funeral home.
