Feb. 27, 2018 GEORGE DeYOUNG, 88 George DeYoung 88, of Saranac, passed away on Feb. 23, 2018. He was born on Oct. 10, 1929, in Grand Rapids township the son of Robert and Lena (Linhouse) DeYoung. He married Rosalie Brown on jan. 15, 1949, in Lyons. He was a member of Saranac Community Church, Saranac Lions Club, NRA and West Michigan Rifle and Pistol Club. He worked as a Corrections Officer for 34 years and also as a car salesman for 30 years. George was a recognized marksman, an avid hunter, fisherman, sailor and golfer. Above all, George was a patriot, caring deeply for this country and its purpose. He is survived by wife, Rosalalie DeYoung of Saranac; children, Michael (Ellen) DeYoung of Rockford, Janet Kilcoyne and Dennis Grysen of Hudsonville, Carol (Michael) Levandoski Sr. of Hopkins, John (Paula) DeYoung Sr. of Hudsonville; brother, Leonard DeYoung of Holly, grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Lawyer of Arizona, Julia (Aaron) Hauter of Hudsonville, Clayson (Shari) DeYoung of Belding, Timothy Kilcoyne of Colorado, Michael Levandoski Jr. of Grandville, Marie (Kevin ) Willcome of Conklin, Chelsea (Stephen ) Vajko of Hudsonville, John DeYoung II of Grand Rapids, Caryn (Brian ) Sousley of Holland ; great-grandchildren, Samuel Lawyer, Seth Lawyer, Reece Hauter, Ava Hauter, Kaleb DeYoung, Tatum Levandoski, Levi Levandoski, Landon Wilcome and Olivia Vajko. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Deborah De Young, four brothers and three sisters. Service will be held at Saranac Community church Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 1 p.m. with Pastor Becky Poor officiating. Interment Saranac Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the services. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to Saranac Lions Club, NRA and Kindred Hospice. C'ya!
