Diamon, Sr., 69, died at eight o'clock Saturday evening, January 28, in Veterans Facility, Grand Rapids. He had been ill for the past two years and a patient at the hospital for two weeks. He was agent and telegraph operator for the Grand Trunk Railroad in Saranac, for forty-five years, until his retirement seven years ago. Mr. Diamon was a veteran of World War 1, a member of Boston Lodge No. 146 F. and A.M., of which he was past master and life member; of the Hooker Chapter in Lowell, a member of Knights Templar No. 11, the American Legion and past commander, and member of the Disabled Veterans. He also belonged to the Veterans of Foreign Wars which he helped organize in Saranac. Surviving are his wife, Rachel; three sons, Clare of Kalamazoo, Jack of Grand Rapids and Gideon H. Jr., of Vicksburg; two daughters, Mrs. Constance Schneider of Reed City and Miss Virginia Diamon of Grand Rapids and Saranac, and ten grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at Morris Funeral Home in Saranac, with the Rev. Glenn McCarty and Mrs. Vena Evans of the Free Methodist Church, officiating.
