L. Stine, last Monday night, at about eight o’clock. Mr. Dibble was born in Massachusetts, on March 15, 1815. He has been married twice, his first wife dying after a considerable family had been born to them; his second wife, with whom he has been a constant companion for over 50 years, survives him, but she too is in very poor health and feeble, and the loss of her life companion may mean her early demise. These old people have lived with their daughter, Mrs. Stine, for nearly eight years. Mrs. Stine and a brother are the only living children of the second wife, while two boys and four daughters of the first wife survive. The funeral was held yesterday from the Congregational church Rev. Skentelbury officiated, and the remains interred in Lakeside cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Dibble had been residents of this state for over fifty years. A short time ago the Wave contained a clipping from a Hastings paper which told how Mr. Dibble had chopped the forest from the land on which Hastings is now built. He was one of the pioneers of that section of the state, coming there when all was a wilderness, and with him will forever be lost many tales of the hardships and life’s battles of our pioneers.
