Mr. Dick went to the barn to look after his chores and not returning the family instituted search for him, finding him lying behind the horses in an unconscious condition. He was carried to the house, but did not rally and passed away in about half an hour. Deceased was born June 1, 1838, and had lived on the Plains about 30 years. He leaves a wife and five children, three sons and two daughters, one of the sons being employed in the hardware store of Hatch & Baker in Lyons. He also leaves three sisters and one brother, besides a large circle of friends, to whom he had endeared himself by his long life among them. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. N.R. Woods, of Lyons, and were largely attended. Interment in North Plains cemetery.
