Dickens, 75, of Mount Pleasant, formerly of Belding, passed away after an extended illness on Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility in Mount Pleasant. Lucy was born Aug. 17, 1934, in Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of Alexander and Mary Hodder Walters. She retired from Frigidaire after many years of faithful service. She was a past member of the Greenville Moose Lodge. Lucy love to crochet, especially doilies and afghans. She was married Oct. 1, 1983, in Belding to Charles Dickens. Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Charlie; daughter, Cindy Kang of California; son, Robert and Kim Jewell of Escanaba; stepdaughters, Drabra Miller of Belding, June and Darwin Dickson and Chuck and Ninah Dickens of Lewisburg, Tenn.; her mother, Mary Chaisson of Newfoundland, Canada; sister Edith and Buz Hart of Florida; brother, Hubert and Aggie Walters of Newfoundland; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Alexander; brother, Alex; son, Shawn Heintz; and stepdaughter, Caroline “Carrie” Barrow. Mass of Christian Burial is 1 p.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Belding with Father David Jenuwine presiding. Inurnment will be in Rest Haven Memory Gardens. Visitation is from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today at the Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Greenville Moose Lodge or a Hospice of your choice. The family extends their appreciation and thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and caregivers at the Isabella County Medical Care Facility and Central Michigan Community Hospital for their tender care.
