Ionia Daily Standard – Tuesday 29 August 1899
Mrs. Caesar Dickerson, colored, living near Long Lake, died on Monday forenoon 
of paralysis.  Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson were former slaves, and were ignorant of 
their parents, birthplace or age, but it is thought Mrs. Dickerson was about 
60 years old.  Deceased was a true Christian, a kind neighbor, and was of a 
genial and sunny nature.  She was highly esteemed by all who knew her, and 
will be long remembered by the many who made Long Lake a pleasure ground, on 
account of the many acts of kindness rendered them.  The funeral service will 
be held in Orleans church, on Thursday afternoon at one o’clock.
