N. Dickinson's Remains Brought Home. Last week THE OBSERVER gave an extended article upon the death of Mrs. L. N. Dickinson, known to her friends as "Aunt Lydia," who had died on Monday night of last week at Orvisburg, Miss., whither she had gone a couple of months previous with E. E. Orvis and wife to spend the winter. In the article we said the remains were expected to arrive at Portland on Friday, accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Orvis and Miss Martha Smurr, the latter being called South to nurse Mrs. Dickinson when it was thought she would recover from a serious sickness in the midst of which she then was. Miss Smurr, however, did not come, she remaining at Orvisburg to look after the Orvis household at that point. The remains arrived here on Saturday noon and were met at the depot by a number of friends of the family and taken to the home deceased had occupied so long and to which she had become so greatly attached. During Saturday afternoon and evening and Sunday many friends of the family called to extend their sympathy to Mr. and Mrs. Orvis and to look for the last time upon the remains of their old friend and neighbor, who looked very natural in her last long sleep. The funeral services were conducted from the Baptist church on Monday afternoon and notwithstanding the inclement weather, were largely attended, Rev. Bower officiating. Deceased had been a member of the Baptist church for more than half a Baptist church for more than half a century, being the oldest member living except one or two constituent members now residing in this vicinity.
