She was born on November 24, 1921 in New Rockford, N.D. her parents were Harold and Alice (Anderson) Crandall. On July 13, 1939, She married John Cornelius Dickinson at Portland United Methodist Church Parsonage. They were married for over 50 years. They began farming in March of 1946 and purchased their own farm in Sebewa twp, in 1949 The couple farmed there until 1969 when they purchased Fells motel in South Ionia, which they operated until their retirement in 1982. Ramona was a homemaker, she was a fantastic cook, baker (known as a cookie lady), seamstress, quilter and crocheter. She also enjoyed gardening, square dancing, bowling and golf. She was a long-time member of LeValley United Methodist Church and The Orange Thimble Club. She worked at AC-Sparkplug as a Rosie the Riveter during World War II. Surviving are her children; Roselyn (Charles) Meyers of Grand Ledge, Lyle (Trudy ) Dickinson of Onaway, Sharon (Gary) Purdy of Holt, Linda (Mike) Seelhoff of Ionia, James (Lyndsey ) Dickinson of Remus and Thomas (Tammy ) Dickinson of Ionia; 15 grandchildren. She was precede in death by husband, John C. Dickinson; parents, Harold and Alice; brothers Harold and Donald; sisters, Audrey,, Beverly and Ardith; and grandson, W. Scott Purdy. Funeral service will be held at LeValley united methodist church on Monday, March 12th, at 11:00 a.m with Pastor Nancy Patera officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Visitations will be Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m at Lake funeral home in Ionia and 1 hour prior to service at the Church. Those wishing may make memorial contributions to LeValley Church and Ionia Commission of Aging.
