Was Lifelong Resident of This Community Funeral Held Wednesday From Old Homestead Where She Was Married In 1877. Mrs. Harriet Hall Dickson, aged 71 years, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ernest Prouty, at Lime Ridge, Wisconsin, Saturday, following an illness of about 18 months. The remains were brought to Portland and funeral services held at her late home on the corner of Bridge and Grant streets Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. W. L. Moore. Burial was made in the family lot in Portland cemetery. Mrs. Dickson was a pioneer of this vicinity having been born in Sebewa in 1855. She was a daughter of the late Pierce G. Cook and when 15 years of age came to Portland with her parents, residing in this village until last August when she went to Lime Ridge to make her home with her daughter. On March 21, 1877, she was united in marriage to Albert J. Dickson, the ceremony being performed in the home from which the funeral was held. Her two daughters, Mrs. James M. Webster and Mrs. Ernest Prouty were also married in the old homestead which had been closed since Mrs. Dickson went to Lime Ridge last summer, but was opened again Wednesday to pay its last tribute to the mistress who had spent so many years of her lifetime within its walls. Mrs. Dickson was a practical nurse and her kindly administration to the afflicted of this vicinity won for her the love of all who received her attention. She was a member of Portland lodge O.E.S. and the Congregational Guild. Besides the husband who, for the past five years has made his home in Florida, she is survived by two daughters, one son and one brother. They are Mrs. James M. Webster, of Seattle, Washington, who arrived here in time for the funeral; Mrs. Ernest Prouty, of Lime Ridge, Wis., who accompanied the remains to Portland; A. H. Dickson, of Nevada; and Charles B. Cook, of Sebewa. The two daughters will remain in Portland for ten days when Mrs. Webster will accompany Mrs. Prouty to Lime Ridge, remaining there until the first of April. Others from a distance to attend the funeral were Ruben Cook, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Lockwood, of Ionia; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Roe and Mrs. Artley Gee, of Lansing; and Mrs. C. D. Tomy, of Detroit.
