The Ionia Daily Sentinel-Standard, Friday, August 12, 1955


Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon for Byron Diehl of Matherton at 
the Rush funeral home in Mt. Pleasant.  The Rev. Keel officiated and interment 
was at Mt. Pleasant cemetery.

Mr. Diehl was 76 years old and ha been retired since 1942.  He was in business 
in Ionia and Muir for 18 years and with the International Harvester Company.  
He owned a farm near Matherton but had lived in his summer cottage in northern 
Michigan for five years and spent the winter in Florida.

Survivors are his wife, Mary, two sons, Stanley of Charlotte and Delos on the 
home farm in Matherton; two brothers, Ed of Mt. Pleasant and Fred of Sheldon, 
Wash.

Muir:  This community was saddened to hear of the death of Byron Diehl last 
Tuesday.  The family lived here a few years ago in the home where George Shaw 
and the Arthur Rivetts live now.  The funeral was Thursday at Mt. Pleasant with 
the Rev. Keel officiating.
