Born December 8, 1885 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Siet Dikmans. He came to the United States in 1903 and received a BA degree from Washington college in Tennessee and graduated from Michigan Agricultural college at East Lansing with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree in 1920. He attended the Georgetown university at Washington D. C. where he obtained a PhD in 1930. He worked for the U. S. Department of agriculture research laboratory and most of his life worked in the research of parasitic diseases of domestic animals. He was the author of many scientific publications. He was married to Ruth D. Normington in Baton Rouge, La., September 10, 1921, and after retirement they move to Ionia to make their home in 1953. He was a member of the SS Peter and Paul church. Surviving are his wife, Ruth, and a brother, John of the Netherlands. Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Leddick funeral home. Rev. Edward Orlowski will officiate and interment will be at the Sunset Memorial Gardens cemetery. Parish rosary will be recited Tuesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
