Dildine was born in Sullivan Co., Pa., Dec. 20, 1846, and died in Clarksville May 1, 1914, aged 67 years, 4 months and 12 days. His mother died when he was 2 years old and she also left a daughter 4 years old. The children were separated and later the sister was brought to Michigan. In 1862 he enlisted in the Civil War and remained till its close. Later he came to Michigan to visit his sister, Mrs. James Post. He was married to Miss Emma Hood Sept. 13, 1874. To this union were born three children, two daughters and one son, the latter died at the early age of four years. He is survived by the widow, two daughters, Mrs. Chas. Decker and Mrs. Andrew Clum, and three nephews, John, Lamar and James Post. His sister, Mrs. Post, died May 5, 1913. The funeral was held Sunday, May 3, at the Congregational church and was largely attended. The teachers and pupils of the Clarksville school attended in a body. Rev. Wooley was the officiating minister. Burial was in Clarksville cemetery.
