Funeral services were held at the residence of Josiah Dilley, conducted by Rev. A. E. Mather, of Battle Creek. Deceased was born August 19th, 1863. From the schoolroom to the bridal alter, from the bridal alter to the bier within a twelve month. Seldom do events so big with consequences crowd each other so rudely in the happening. Verily, “The tones of the lute and viol had scarcely died away, when the requiem of death came swelling after.” Had she been silvered with the touch of time, or not yet moulded into noble womanhood, or one less fair, less true, less devoted, the sting of grief might have wanted some of its keenness. But when one so young, just drawing aside the curtain that hangs between the woman and the girl, one so comely, so pure, so wholly given up to filial duty, when such a one dies, the sharpest cut of grief is known. Such is the bereavement here. The worst that can be said is, that she is dead; the best, she died much to soon.
