November 27. 2021 DINEHART Joseph Alan Dinehart, aged 76 years, died November 18, 2021 in Lansing,Michigan. Joe was born to parents Clarence and Maxine (Smith) Dinehart on November 29, 1944 in Portland, Michigan. The family moved to the family farm in Easton Township. Joe was a standout high school athlete on the football field and baseball diamond and gradated from Ionia High School in 1963. After graduation, Joe went to work at the Ionia County Road Commission before enlisting in the United States Air Force in 1964. Joe honorably served int he Air Force from 1964 to 1967 and completed a tour in the Vietnam War. Joe returned to Ionia after his service and resumed work at the Road Commission for 30 years retiring as road foreman. In June 15, 1968 he married the love of his life, Dianne Hawkins. Joe and Dianne enjoyed 53 year of marriage and together they raised three sons. Joe was an avid outdoorsman and sports fan and he put these passions to good use giving back to the youth of the Ionia community as a Hunters's Safety instructor for many years and as Youth League baseball coach. Joe was also a primitive firearm enthusiast and enjoyed participation in primitive weapons competitions, Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Maxine Dinehart, an infant brother Smith Dinehart, his father and mother-in-laws, Orville and Beatrice Hawkins and brother-in-laws Robert Hawkins and Dale Hawkins. Joe is loved and survived by his wife Dianne, sons Rob Dinehart, John (Jenny) Dinehart and Andy Dinehart, grandchildren Nick (fiancee MacKenzie Porta), Ellie and Rylie Dinehart, sisters Sharon (Gary) Gonnella and Deanne Stephens, in- laws,Mary Lou and Dan Hopkins and Jack and Irene Hawkins along with several nieces and nephews. In keeping with Joe's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal funeral service.
