Dirr, 68, retired Lake Odessa farmer and business man, died at his home in the village Wednesday night after several weeks of illness. He was born at Pleasant Bend, Ohio November 30, 1893. He married Carolyn Reahm. Eight years later the family moved to Michigan and settled in Odessa township. Mrs. Dirr died in 1922 and soon after her death he sold the farm and moved into the village. For four years Dirr operated a grocery and meat market in the village. He had been retired since 1926. He later married Mrs. Ella Stockford. He was a member of the Lake Odessa First Congregational church. Surviving are his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Wilma Deatsman of Lake Odessa and Mrs. Monica Rock of Portland; two step-children, Mrs. Dione Manley and Boyd Rockford of Lake Odessa; eight grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie King and Mrs. Elizabeth Beck of Defiance, Ohio, and two brothers, Peter Dirr of Napoleon, Ohio and Charles Dirr of Pleasant Bend, Ohio. Funeral services will be held form the First Congregational church Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m. Rev. E. E. Humphrey of Saranac will officiate, and he will be assisted by Rev. Frank Maxon of the Calvary United Brethren church at Lake Odessa. Interment will be held at Lakeside cemetery.
