Disbrow, aged 59 years. Mr. Disbrow was a brother of Wm. Disbrow, of this village, and at one time a resident of the place. By request we publish the following from the Calaveras (California) Chronicle: With the death of Mr. Disbrow another of our pioneers passed to “that bourne from whence no traveler returns.” Deceased came hence in 1850, where he has been a continuous resident up to the time of his death. Like nearly every other comer at that early period, he engaged in mining, but followed the occupation only a very short time when he engaged in the brewing business in company with Andrew Taft, and for many years the firm of Taft & Disbrow conducted a lucrative business. A little over a year ago he came to the terrible realization that he was afflicted with a cancer of the mouth, whose horrible ravages, after causing untold mental as well as physical suffering, carried him to the grave. Mr. Disbrow was a good man in every sense of the word, kind-hearted and generous, and until misfortune visited him, was one of our most active and prominent citizens. He leaves a wife and family of three grown children. The funeral took place Thursday and was a very large one, attesting the respect in which deceased was held in the community of which he was one of the pioneers.
