                          Woman Resident Answers Summons


The death of Mrs.Charles Dixon, ages 78 years, took place at her home 602 
W.Washington street last Friday afternoon, following a long period of poor 
health.

Mrs.Dixon was born in Kalamazoo and was the former Frances Ludwick, daughter of 
Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Ludwick of Lebanon, Clinton County. She was married  to 
Charles Dixon on Feb. 12, 1889 and 3 years later came to this city with her 
husband. They first operated the first steam laundry in this city and after 
disposing of the laundry they started the first motion picture theatre in this 
city. It was known as the "Idlebour" and was long before the days of talking 
pictures.

For many years Mrs Dixon was prominently identified with many of the Civic and 
social activities connected with this community and was for years a member of 
the Ladies Social Circle of the Congregational Church, but for a long time, due 
to ill health, she had kept to her home a greater part of the time.

Surviving are the husband and a number of nephews and nieces.


The body was prepared fr burial by Undertaker Arthur J. Fitzjohn and Funeral 
services were conducted a the Fitzjohn Funeral home Monday afternoon at 2 
o'clock, with Rev.Thomas Rice, pastor of the Methodist church officiating and 
burial was in East Plains cemetery near Pewamo.

Mr.Dixon has the sympathy of his many friends in his hour of sorrow and in the 
loss of his life companion of many years.
