The Portland Observer, Wednesday, August 21, 1889
Mrs. Martha Dixson a widow lady died suddenly at West Sebewa Monday.  The 
circumstances as near as can be learned are as follows:

While assisting her son who was burning a tree  few rods from the house, she 
complained of feeling ill and started for the house.  She had gone but a short 
distance when her son noticed she was walking with apparent difficulty and 
rushed to her assistance.  She fell to the ground but recovered sufficient 
strength to reach the house, when she expired in a short time.  

Mrs. Dixson was about fifty years of age and resided one mile south of West 
Sebewa corners.
