                              GERTRUDE B. DODDS

SARANAC - Mrs. Gertrude B. Dodds, 87, of 300 East Main, Saranac died early 
Friday morning at Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids following an extended 
illness.

Born November 3, 1881 in Ionia County she was a resident of the Saranac area 
most of her life. She and her husband were employed at the Ionia County 
infirmary for four years.

She was an employee of the Saranac post office and was also the second Telephone 
operator in the village of Saranac. A member of the Saranac Community Church she 
also belonged to its Evening Fellowship group, a charter member of the American 
Legion auxiliary, Ionia DAR, and Literary Club.

Surviving are a son Hugh J. Dodds of Grand Rapids two daughters; Mrs.Katherine 
Feasal and Mrs.Gladys Cahoon both of Saranac, seven grandchildren, 12 great-
grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Rev. Eldon Cummings and Rev. John Hancock will officiate at funeral services 
Monday at 2 pm at Morris-Roetman funeral Home in Saranac. Interment will be at 
Saranac cemetery.

A Memorial had been established for Saranac Community Church and contributions 
may be left at the funeral home.
