Dodds son of Hugh and Margaret Dodds was born in Boston township January 25, 1862, and passed away Saturday, February 26, 1944, at his home here. Mr. Dodds had been ill a long time and was confined to his bed almost two years. In his early twenties he went to South Dakota where he lived fifteen years. While there he met and married Almyra Dysard in Hecla, S.D., November 25, 1890. Coming back to Michigan they purchased the Goodell farm on the south river road west of town and made their home there until 32 years ago when they moved to Saranac, purchasing a home on Vosper street. Mr. Dodds was in business here until his health failed, at one time in the dray business, and had a milk route, later in partnership with E. D. Good, he operated a restaurant. He is survived by his widow, Almyra, a daughter, Mrs. E. C. Good of Saranac, two sons, Harry E. of Saranac, Leo of Grand Rapids, two grandchildren, Lois Dodds of Saranac and Billy Dodds of Grand Rapids; two sisters, Mrs. Ella Myers of Hastings, Mrs. Hattie Walker of Lowell and two brothers, James B. of Lansing and Miles of Buffalo, N.Y. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at two o’clock at Morris Funeral Home, Rev. E. H. Humphrey officiating and burial was in Saranac cemetery.
