O. W. Carr. Mrs. Carr, accompanied by Miss Esther Grace Barber, furnished the music. The interment took place in the Saranac cemetery. Mr. Dodds was born in Boston township May 22, 1854, and with the exception of a brief residence in Woodland, and an extended visit with his son Alva, while the latter resided in Saskatchewan, he had lived in Boston township, where he was admired for his industrious and cheerful nature. He became a member of the U.B. church while still a youth and retained this membership until his death. His years of hard work, coupled with his advanced age, caused a mental sickness two months ago, and he was admitted to the hospital for institutional treatment. He had been considered improving, and his death, that came while seated at the supper table was very unexpected. March 25, 1875 he was united in marriage to Catherine Meyers, of Lake Odessa, who died in 1909. Since her death Mr. Dodds had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Eva Higgins, Saranac. Mrs. Higgins and Mrs. Julia Goff, daughters, of Saranac; Herbert Dodds, of Saranac, and Alva Dodds, of Lansing, sons, survive. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Ella Meyers, Lake Odessa, and Mrs. Hattie Walker, Lowell, and two brothers, Ed, of Saranac, and James, of Lansing.
