Ionia Daily Sentinel Standard, 6 Jul 1942

Mrs. Sadie C. Dodge, 67, died Sunday, July 5, at 5 p.m. at her home in 
Saranac.  She had been ill for many months at the University of Michigan 
hospital in Ann Arbor.  She was brought home from the hospital the latter part 
of March.

She was born May 15, 1875, in Indiana, the daughter of William and Mary 
Kester.  They came to Michigan when she was a small child and spent many years 
near Saranac.

Melvin Dodge, her husband, died 14 years ago.  She is survived by a son, 
Harvey, and four granddaughters.  She was a charter member of the Valley 
chapter of OES.  She was 25 years old when she joined and was the first 
secretary of the chapter.  She had been a member for 42 years.

Funeral services will be conducted from the Morris funeral home in Saranac on 
Wednesday, July 8, at 2 p.m.  Rev. E.H. Humphrey will officiate.  Grave 
services will be conducted by members of the Eastern Star.
