Funeral Service for Mrs. George Dodson

Last Saturday our community was called, through neighborly sympathy, to the
Baptist church to pay their last respects to the memory of Mrs. George Dodson,
for a number of years a resident of Palo and near vicinity.

Mrs. Dodson was a woman of sterling character and won for herself many firm
friends wherever she went.  Several years ago she professed Christ as her Savior
and was a true and consistent follower till the close of her earthly career. 

Some six years ago she with her husband and daughter Elsie, moved to Ionia. 
About three years ago Elsie was called Home.  The loss of this loved one, who
was the life center of the home, was a severe blow to both parents, from which
the mother never recovered.

About 6 months ago she was stricken with a serious illness which after weeks of
intense pain resulted in her death.  Her husband did all in his power to relieve
her suffering, and as a last resort took her to Ann Arbor about six weeks ago. 
She underwent an operation , but the pain-racked body was unable to rally, and
grim Death claimed her.  The remains were brought to Ionia and lay in state at
their home on West Lincoln Ave., until Saturday, when they were brought to Palo,
and the funeral services, conducted by her pastor, Rev. E.E. Branch of Ionia,
were held from her old home church, and interment made in Palo cemetery between
her two children in accordance with her wishes expressed during her last illness.

Rev. Branch spoke consolingly and sympathetically from II Cor. 5:6.  Music by
the Palo choir, assisted by Miss Lucy Cull, who sang “Good Night” in her usual
sympathetic manner. - Palo Post.
