Dodson, Long Lake Hotel Proprietor, Dead. J.E. Dodson was born near Kendallville, Ind., March 18, 1858. He moved to Ronald when five years old and lived on the farm more or less all his life with the exception of six years living in Belding. He was married to his first wife, who was Arvilla Fenton, February 18, 1881, she passing away in 1890. There were three children, Mrs. James McNeilly, who lives in Ionia, the other two dieing in infancy. In March 26, 1895, he was married to Miss Ella Howard. There are two daughters Marie and Ruth who lives at home, also two sisters, Mrs. Elma Rork, of Palo, and Mrs. Harriett Minier, of Belding. Mr. Dodson has been a farmer practically all his life. They came to Long Lake about 12 years ago having been in the hotel about five years. Mr. and Mrs. Dodson and family have lived in Belding during the winters of the past two years, coming to the lake summers to open the hotel. He was widely known all over the county and always had a pleasant word for everyone and will be missed by his many friends. The funeral will be held at Dodson hotel Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock Eastern time. Rev. Ellis, of Belding, will officiate and burial will be in Orleans cemetery.
