H. Dolphin occurred in a hospital at Ann Arbor during the night Tuesday. Mr. Dolphin had only been in the hospital for treatment about two weeks. The cause of death was given as cancer. Mr. Dolphin was born near St. Joseph, and moved to Grand Rapids when about 16 years of age. He lived in that city until coming to Ionia to work about eight years ago. He was connected in an executive way with the furniture industry in that city. He was also greatly interested in the civic affairs of that city, and was a member of the board of health for four years. Mr. and Mrs. Dolphin and family moved to Ionia from Grand Rapids a few years ago, he having accepted a position with the E. H. Stafford Manufacturing company. Some time ago while at work he was bruised on the face by a board. According to relatives, no attention was paid to it then, but later when a more serious aspect developed, on the advice of local doctors, Mr. Dolphin went to the Ann Arbor hospital, where physicians diagnosed his condition as cancer, and considered that an operation would be of no avail. Mr. and Mrs. Dolphin have been attending the First Presbyterian church of this city. He is survived by his widow and four children, Henry, Harriett, Catherine, and Clarence Dolphin, all at home. He is also survived by three brothers, William and Leonard Dolphin of Grand Rapids, and Ben Dolphin, of Toledo, O., and two sisters, Mrs. James Totten and Mrs. Thomas McArthur, of Grand Rapids. The body will be brought to Ionia from Grand Rapids Saturday morning and will be placed in the Presbyterian church. The funeral service will be held there Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock. The body was taken to Grand Rapids Wednesday due to the fact that many of the friends and relatives reside in that city.
