Dolphin, 82, of Ionia, passed away Saturday evening, Aug. 7, 1999, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born Nov. 27, 1916, in Ionia, the daughter of Louis and Paula Schultes Macholl. She was a graduate of Ionia High School in 1934. Mrs. Dolphin was married to Con Dolphin on April 13, 1936, in Ohio. He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 1994. Together the couple owned and operated a photography studio in Ionia for many years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Ionia and a longtime member of the Hospital Guild of Ionia County Memorial Hospital. Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Brian and Betty Ann Dolphin of Belding; one daughter, Susan Dolphin of Greenville; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her foster daughter, Brigitte “Getta” Graber of Wurzburg, Germany; one sister-in-law, Harriet Guernsey and one brother-in-law, Carl Snider, both of California. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, David in 1982. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Cook Funeral Home, Ionia, with Pastors Jeff Meyer and David Weber officiating. Interment will be in the Balcom Cemetery. Visitation will be today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Rich Street Chapel.
