He was married to Emelia Luts in 1835; to them were born 10 children, three of whom are living, Mrs. Vance, Mrs. Ernst and John L. Dommy. Mr. Dommy lived in Michigan at the foot of Maple Hill for several years, also at Hubbardston and carried on the business of manufacturing lumber. In early life he carried on the business of a carpenter and builder, was an employer of labor on a large scale in his lumber and building enterprises and was a straight forward honest business man. He was converted in 1865 and united with the United Brethren Church in Ohio and on moving to Hubbardston he united with the M.E. Church, in which faith he continued to the end. He was a liberal supporter of the cause of Christ as long as he was able to do so. During the last two years he has not been able to attend church service very often on account of his failed eye-sight, which occurred nine years ago. He could find his way around Hubbardston fairly well as he was well acquainted with the town; also could up to the last two years find his way around Pewamo fairly well, since which time he could not go from home with safety alone, being almost blind. On September 26 he accidentally entered the wrong door in the room which led to the cellar and fell sustaining a bad fracture of his right arm, with other serious injuries, which resulted in death on October 10, aged 91 years, 2 months, 17 days. Mr. Dommy was a sincere Christian, a loyal follower of his Lord, a good loving father, who will be missed very much in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Vance, where he has made his home for several years. The brother and sisters have been equally blessed by the long life of the father. They mourn his departure but not as those who have no hope. His end was peace. File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/mi/ionia/obits/d/dommy14347nob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.net/mifiles/ File size: 2.5 Kb
