January 15, 2022 Carolynne Adelia Donovan Carolynne Adelia Donovan passed away peacefully on January 11, 2022.She was born on march 31, 1936 to Adelia Nash McAlary and A.Leo McAlary. She attended school at SS.Peter & Paul Academy in Ionia where she enjoyed preforming in school musicals. Though she was a talented singer and played the piano, she was also strong and adventurous growing up, loved swimming and boating, and even recalled riding her horse many times alone to the Nash family farm in Clarksville. After attending Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, she married her hometown sweetheart Lawrence Donovan in 1956. They travelled a bit with his baseball career, but they ultimately returned to Ionia where they settled and raised their family. Carolynne was a dedicated teacher, and spent the majority of her career teaching 4th grade at Jefferson Elementary School in Ionia. She truly enjoyed students from the early days who came back to visit as adult. Outside of school, her family was her priority but she also enjoyed reading and listening to or performing music She was a long time member of Ionia Women's Literary Club. In addition to her parents, Carolynne is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, her daughter, Kelley McClintock, and her brother Joseph McAlary. She will be dearly missed by her children and their spouses, Mary (Tom) Livingston, Deborah Belcore, and Douglas (Mary) Donovan. She was a loving grandmother to Katherine and Jack Livingston, Christopher and Robert Belcore, Jennifer (Chris) Spearling, John William Hearld and Lia and Conor Donovan. Her great-grandchildren Nolan and Calen Spearling, Korinthia and Pascale Belcore, and Gavin Hearld brought her special fourth generation joy. She is also survived by her sister Mary McAlary, brothers Phillip (Holy) and William McAlary, sister- in-law Marie (Norm) Arndt and many nieces and nephews.
