After writing out a will and piling her bonds and stocks about her, Miss Hazel Doolittle, 43, took her own life with gas at her home in Lansing, Monday. The rash act is thought to have been caused from ill health and despondency. Funeral services were held in Lansing, Wednesday and burial made in the Danby cemetery. Miss Doolittle was born in Danby township on the old Doolittle homestead now owned by Josephine Binns, and had spent her entire lifetime in this vicinity until 13 years ago when she went to Lansing and until recently had been employed by the state in the Compensation department. Last November she suffered a nervous breakdown and had been ill since that time. Surviving are two brothers, Roy, of Sashastewan, Canada and Ray, of Danby. Three sisters also survive, Mrs. Carl Burkle?, of Kalamazoo, and Mrs. Gertrude Stahl and Mrs. Clifford Jefferies, of Lansing.
