Martha Kimble was born April 3, 1848 at Medford, Burlington county, N.J.  When 
a child of twelve she came with her parents to South Bend, Ind., where she met 
and married Charles W. Doremus in September 1865.  She was converted at the 
age of sixteen and united with the Baptist church, retaining her membership 
there until twenty years ago when she joined the Congregational church.  On 
coming to Hubbardston she placed her letter in the Methodist church, remaining 
faithful to that connection until her death.  

She was a quite, home loving woman, always faithful to the duties of wife and 
mother and yet was sufficiently interested in the welfare of others to find 
time to help every worthy cause.  She was a member of the Hubbardston W.R.C. 
whose members attended her funeral, having charge of the services at the 
grave.  The funeral was held at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. H. Landgon, 
Rev. W. W. Chatfield officiating, and her body laid to rest in the west side 
cemetery beside her husband.  The spacious house was filled with old friends 
and neighbors and her casket literally covered with floral offerings.  

Of the five children given to her, three are left to mourn her loss; Mrs. W. 
H. Langdon and George Doremus of Hubbardston; Harry Doremus of Milwaukee; one 
child dying in infancy and one grown daughter dying after they came to 
Hubbardston.  A sister, Mrs. Mary Staples and a number of grandchildren are 
among the mourners.  Those who came from away to attend the funeral were Mrs. 
Staples, Harry Doremus, Chas. Langdon and wife of Bay City and Horace Kimble 
of South Bend, Indiana.
