Dorner, 84, of Portland passed away Oct. 10, 2004. He was born in Grand Rapids May 31, 1920 the son of Frederick and Johanna (Denbraber) Dorner. Mr. Dorner served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Portland VFW Post #4090. Fred drove a school bus for Portland for many years, and he worked at John Beane in Lansing for a number of years. He enjoyed refinishing antique furniture, and he and his wife Elnora spent many winters in Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Alice Elnora Dorner on March 9, 2004. Surviving are daughters, Kathleen (Larry) Terpstra of Sunfield and Jacqueline (Mel) Martin of Portland; grandchildren, Lucas, Amanda and Caleb Terpstra, Randy and Bryan Martin. Services were conducted by the Rev. Ray Atherton Oct. 14 at Schrauben-Lehman Funeral Home, Portland. Interment was at Danby Township Cemetery, with military graveside honors provided by the Portland VFW Post #4090. Contributions may be made to the VFW Post #4090 or to Hazel I. Findlay.
