Doty, age 78, of Belding, passed away Monday, February 21, 2005 at Spectrum Health United Memorial Campus in Greenville. Ray was born June 6, 1926, in Belding, the son of Charles and Carrie Wooldridge Doty. Ray graduated from Belding High School with the class of 1944. A life long resident of Belding, Ray was a dairy farmer who enjoyed square dancing and family life. He served as an Ionia County Commissioner and as President of Ionia County Farm Bureau. He was married on August 17, 1957, in Belding, to Joyce E. Mawby and she survives, along with their children: Robert Ray Doty, Dennis Charles and Connie Doty; Roger Harold and Tammy Doty; grandchildren Andrea Doty, Kevin Doty, Erik Doty, Kenda Doty, Wade Doty, Alec Doty, Justin Holliday and Matthew Holliday. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers George Doty, Earl Doty; and one sister Alice Cottrell. Funeral services are 1 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Belding, with Pastors Bruce Burfield and Cliff Noe officiating. A luncheon follows the funeral service at church. Visitation is 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding. Private interment will follow in Orleans Township Cemetery.
