Ionia Sentinel Standard, 30 Dec 1958 & 3 Jan 1959

Mrs. Lillie I. Doty, 82, died at her residence on route four, Ionia, Monday 
afternoon after an extended illness.  Mrs. Doty was born in Mishawaka, Ind., 
November 27, 1876, one of 14 children, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Washington 
Buttermore.  She was married to Wilbur Doty at Ionia, March 29, 1894.  Mrs. 
Doty made her home in and around Ionia county most of her life and had resided 
at her present residence the past 17 years.

She is survived by her husband, Wilbur; two daughters, Mrs. Beulah Durkee and 
Mrs. Lulu Lapo of Ionia; a sister, Mrs. Ida Scott of Rockford; a brother, Alva 
Buttermore of Harrison; six grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 20 great-
great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Phelps funeral chapel.  The 
Rev. Heath T. Goodwin of First Methodist church of Ionia will officiate.  
Interment will be in the family lot in Balcom cemetery.

Tillie I. Doty, 82, who died Monday at her home on route four, Ionia.  The Rev. 
Heath T. Goodwin conducted the services and interment was in Balcom cemetery.  
Bearers were Lloyd Hampshire, Floyd Hampshire, Robert Densmore, Norman Perry, 
Russell Shattuck and Henry Visser.

Attending from out of town were Mrs. Dan Burgess and Mrs. Leon Burgess of 
Greenville; Mrs. Roy Buttermore and Mary and Mrs. Louise Bunning of Bailey; Mr. 
and Mrs. James Keast and family of Hastings; Mrs. Louise Bigger and Mrs. Marion 
Doty of Orleans; Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Weller of Owosso; Mr. and Mrs. Ben Harroun 
and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Harron of Kalamazoo; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Buttermore of 
Grand Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller of Sturgis; Mr. and Mrs. James Collins 
of Lowell; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bixby of Saranac; and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Densmore 
and family of Portland.
