Doty, 52, lifelong resident of Berlin township, died at his home in that township Wednesday evening at 6 o’clock, following an illness of several months. He was taken ill last October and had been seriously ill for the past three weeks. He was born in Berlin township, December 19, 1882, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Doty. He had continued to reside in Berlin township all of his life and had been a carpenter and later a farmer. He was married November 23, 1918, to Dora Ludwick, also of Berlin. Surviving are the widow, five children, Myrl, of Lake Odessa; Maurice, James Edward, 12, Marcella, 10, and Marie 7, at home; five brothers, Charles, Allen, Percy, Max and Hulbert Doty, all of whom reside in Ionia county, and seven sisters, Mrs. Jessie Magers, of Belding; Mrs. Ernest Wooldridge, of Orleans; Mrs. Edward Wooldridge, Mrs. Cora Rogers, Mrs. Fred Howe and Mrs. Ernest Chickering, Orleans township, and Mrs. Ray Bixby, Easton township, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the home in Berlin township Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Paul L. Stewart, pastor of the Church of Christ, officiating. Interment will be at the family lot at Balcomb cemetery.
