Waldron received news of the death of her nephew, Asa Douglas last week at his home in Corona, California. Mr. Douglas lived with his parents just north of Cook’s Corners when a boy about thirty years ago, and went west a few years after with only a few dollars in his pocket. After the death of his father he began to shift for himself and about five years ago he sold a ranch he owned for $50, 000. The Corona newspaper says: Funeral services of Asa Douglas will be held Monday at 10 a.m., from the home 322 North Bright avenue. The sudden death of Mr. Douglas at his ranch near Corona came as a shock to his wife and daughter and to his many friends here. He drove to Corona on Wednesday to attend to the work of irrigating his ranch there, and on Friday morning his body was found on the floor of a small shack on the ranch. It is thought that death came early Thursday morning, as evidences of work at the ranch proved that he had only worked about five minutes, when he was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage. Marks in the soft earth near one of the irrigating stands indicate that he fell to the ground and later recovered enough to walk to the shack. Seated on a low bench, he passed away. The coroner of Riverdale county stated that death must have occurred early Thursday morning. It was not until a neighbor, noticing the water running to waste on the Douglas ranch, Friday morning, decided to investigate, that the body was found. Thursday morning Mr. Douglas left Corona about 5 o’clock in his automobile to drive to his ranch. He appeared in good health. A widow and one child, a daughter, are left to mourn the loss of husband and father. Asa Douglas was born January 5, 1868, in Michigan, and has been a resident of Southern California for the past twenty-five years.
