She was a ninth-grade student at Belding High School where she participated in track. She was very competitive and was preparing for this year, especially the 100-yard dash. For leisure time, she enjoyed playing video games, water skiing, swimming, camping, going on arrowhead hunts, and playing the drums. Along with her sister, they had an informal band (Aisha on the drums and her sister on the guitar) and referred to themselves as the “Blond Butterflies” which they did for their own enjoyment. She could make people laugh, and her laugh could make anyone laugh. Her dad was her hero. A leader and a good worker, Aisha loved God and was attentive to the word of God and even started a Bible class that met in the “chicken coop.” She was preceded in death by her great-grandfathers, Lawrence Curtis and Donald McLaughlin. She is survived by her father, Wade Douglas of Belding; her mother, Lisa Marie Dreiband of Grand Rapids; step mother, Angela Douglas; sisters and brother, Marisa Douglas, Shelby Shinabarger, Mitchel Webb; grandparents, James C. Douglas of Stanwood, Darlene Douglas of Belding, Rick and Barb Dreiband of Rockford, and Nita and Don Besser of Sparta; great grandparents, Dora Dreiband of New York, Jessie Curtis of Greenville, Rosalie Olesek of Auburn Hills, Loretta McLaughlin of Brooksville, Fla.; and aunts, uncles, and cousins. The service is 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pederson Funeral Home, Rockford. Interment is in Englishville Cemetery. Friends may celebrate Aisha’s life with her family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the needs of the family.
