Y., June 9, 1845. She was the daughter of Alanson and Laura Sherman, coming from a line of ancestry tracing back to the Mayflower. Harriet Amelia was the eighth of a family of 11 children. She was married to George Wood, October 23, 1862. To this union were born two sons, William and Frederick, both of whom survive her. The family came to Muir in December 1869. She was married to Dayton Douglass October 9, 1882. During the pastorate of Rev. Henselman she united with the Church of Christ and until failing health prevented was active in all the work of the church. Mrs. Douglass was a loyal member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a great lover of little children and was in the habit of calling them in to visit with them and to give them flowers and fruit. She departed this life after a lingering illness July 8, 1918, aged 73 years 5 months and 20 days. The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at her late residence, Rev. J. A. Cargill officiating and interment was made in Oakwood cemetery at Muir.
